The Gooch Cottage is named after Fred Gooch who spent summers at the cottage in the early 1900s to 1920s He was the general manager of Whittenton Mfg. Co. in Taunton, Massachusetts.
One of the cottage's charming features is the turn-of-the-century bead board wood paneling throughout all the rooms. There are three bedrooms with a total of one queen bed, one full brass bed, and two twin beds. The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas stove and oven, full-size refrigerator and freezer, microwave, coffee maker, and pantry. Cable TV, internet and DVD player are included. The wrap around, screened-in porch offers spectacular views of Town Cove, the salt marshes of the National Seashore, and beyond that the Atlantic Ocean.
Salt and fresh water beaches are minutes away, as well as shopping and restaurants. Great fishing awaits out in front of the cottages, or from a charter boat at Rock Harbor.
The cottage and all of Smith Heights is non smoking.
